In the early days of Hairbrella, we leaned heavily into self-love, especially since most of our community were women. But all that changed in 2023 when I found out that a whopping 25% of our customers are men!
Curious, I conducted a survey, half-expecting these purchases to be gifts. Surprise, surprise—they weren’t!
These guys were shopping for themselves, expressing a need for hair care solutions that were catered to them and their needs. And that was a lightbulb moment for me. 💡
My friend Brandon sending me a vid of him in the original sleep cap asking if I could make a longer version. I had no idea he had one!
I sprang into action, starting with our wave cap, which I affectionately coined the "Durag Do-Over."
This wasn't about replacing the old but rather enhancing it, steering clear of cultural nuances and focusing on pure functionality and style.
From there, it became clear: Hair has no gender, and our mission should reflect that.
We've made a point of being intentional and inclusive in our product development, adding items like:

The feedback has been nothing short of amazing. It turns out; being gender-inclusive isn’t just nice—it’s necessary, and based on the raves, we're hitting the mark for our guys too!
